Old Boys will remember it as P1. Pedagogue's House was originally built in 1427 and is the oldest schoolroom in England. The Archive houses a growing collection of material relating to the history of King Edward VI School, and to the boys and teachers who have worked here. It is an accessible collection, and Old Boys visit regularly to consult the records or to identify photographs, or to donate their own memorabilia.. The collection is extensive, mainly dating from the 19th century, and contains registers, society minute books, class lists, sporting activities, drama and music productions, hundreds of photographs, trophies, awards, reports, blazers, scarves, ties, caps, and every copy of the school magazine, The Stratfordian, from 1899. There is a growing collection of books, in which the school features, or that were written by boys who attended. Earlier records of the school are housed in the Record Office at the Shakespeare Centre in Henley Street. THE STRATFORDIAN was first published in 1893. The Archive holds a complete set from January 1899,and we are anxious to locate and obtain copies of the earlier issues. Additions to the Archive are always welcome, and should you be able to contribute any items for safe-keeping, please contact the Archive, either by : email: pearson.r1@we-learn.com or by telephone 01789 203104.
